BERLIN (AP) — A longtime member of the nationalist Alternative for Germany party has resigned his post on its regional leadership after converting to Islam.

The party, known by its German acronym AfD, has campaigned against what it considers the “Islamization” of Germany because of immigration and higher birth rates among the country’s Muslim population.

A spokesman for AfD’s chapter in the eastern state of Brandenburg confirmed Wednesday (Jan. 24) that Arthur Wagner left the party’s regional board two weeks ago for “personal reasons.”

In an email, spokesman Daniel Friese said it was only after Wagner’s resignation that the party learned of his conversion.

Berlin daily Tagesspiegel reported Wednesday that Wagner, who joined AfD shortly after it was founded in 2013, has in the past been active in a group assisting refugees.

  • I’ve noticed many of the most strident ideologues were once on the opposite side of the spectrum in their youth. It might say something about their mental stability.

  • People who are unbalanced go from one extreme to another and rarely stop in the middle to take a deep breath.

  • To some people, what could be better than sex in the afterlife with virgins. It is a good selling point! Some religions believe that if you live a good life that you will join your family in the afterlife, but who wants to spend an eternity with their family.

  • I am an atheist who just tries to live a good honest life, and if there is such a benevolent being that controls the universe, then hopefully he or she will seek me out, and I won’t have to spend a lifetime purring flatteries to the almighty.

  • John 3:3English Standard Version (ESV)

3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again[a] he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

  • And Daesh also promised its fighters sex slaves in this life as part of their recruitment pitch!

That’s one thing they’ve got in common with the alt-right though — both prey on young men who can’t get laid.

  • I know, and you cannot enter paradise unless you submit to Islam, and Jews believe that all righteous men will enter the kingdom of heaven, and how to attain Nirvana through the “four noble truths” are the essence of Buddhism, and reincarnation is the religious philosophy and central tenet of Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism, and starting a new life with each biological death.

You have to have a big ego to think everyone else is wrong and that you have the only true path? They are religious philosophies, not absolute truths. So keep your personal faith and hope for the best.

  • If Jesus had not been immersed in ignorance and myths, he would have said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again [delusional] he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

  • No. Christ taught that there is only One God and I believe Him.
Deuteronomy 4:35 To you it was shown, that you might know that the Lord is God; there is no other besides him.

  • Again, God is a concept, and every culture has a different idea about the concept. God is not some physical entity that controls the entire universe. The concept of God was invented by men– at least be honest about that.

  • It must be wonderful to believe that in this vast world of people that only a few people who have been introduced to a believe that is different than the balance of the world are the only ones going to that magical place.

How will the others ever know? I mean over the past 2000 years people that never even heard of the Christian thought. How do Christians know that the “moral” thoughts which are vary similar to other religions have not been given to the people by the same “God” (taken from the German word Gott) only having different names.

It is strange that this God is white yet appeared among people of color (Jews) with nappy hair. It took a long time for the the people of the middle East to become “white”.

“The King James Version (KJV), also known as the King James Bible (KJB) or simply the Authorized Version (AV), is an English translation of the Christian Bible for the Church of England begun in 1604 and completed in 1611.”

How can anyone believe that after 400 years a bible which was poorly translated from Latin to English and the Latin version was translated from some other language in Rome in 400 AD is speaking about just one appearance all over the world. Especially since that version has been corrected by so many other current interpretations.

If there is a God I believe that God would have appeared every place on the face of the earth where there were people speaking in their language. To believe that in all of the world that God choose the Jewish people to be his favorite people dispels the thought that God is fair and loves all people.

I believe that somebody is being bamboozled about who or what our God is!

  • Better a Muslim than a fascist surely……heaving a sigh with Angela Merkel in a good place.

  • You may not of heard of Australia’s first woman prime minister Julia Gillard…..suffering taunts of being an atheist, barren and living in sin by certain colleagues….[Catholic ones that is]….She instigated the Royal Commission into Sex Abuse in Australia bringing many survivors out into the open and being validated.
I’m sure there’s a place in heaven just for atheists……..
